Type of Part:
This is an engine side cover / timing gear cover plate from a pre 2nd world war Bugatti.
The rivet holes along the flange and the flat rectangular form match panels used to enclose the camshaft/timing gears on Bugatti straight-eight engines.
Bugatti Oval Logo:
The embossed “EB” red oval logo is cast into the plate — this was common on authentic factory parts (not added later). The patina and wear you see on the paint is consistent with long-term age.
Material:
Cast aluminum alloy, which Bugatti used extensively in its engine components (to save weight and aid cooling).
This kind of cover would most likely belong to:
Bugatti Type 35 / 37 / 39 / 51 (Grand Prix cars of the late 1920s–1930s). These models all used straight-eight engines with prominent side timing covers.
Era: Circa 1925–1939 (pre 2nd world war Bugatti).
Style: The heavy aluminum casting, riveted edge, and logo style all align with parts made at Molsheim before WWII.
